How to combine them

For a classic three- or four-night winter stay, book a northern lights tour for your first or second evening — so that there is time to try again if it is cloudy — a husky safari and a snowmobile safari on separate days, and visit Santa Claus Village independently by bus, adding a reindeer ride there. With a fourth or fifth day, add Korouoma or Ranua. Our itineraries set this out day by day.

Avoid stacking two long, cold activities in one day, especially with children: a three-hour safari in −20 °C is tiring in a way that is hard to imagine from home. One big activity a day, plus something gentle, is the pace that works.

Husky safari or reindeer safari?

They are very different. Huskies are fast, noisy and thrilling; reindeer are slow, quiet and traditional. If you can only do one and have no small children, choose the huskies. With toddlers, choose the reindeer.

Is a snowmobile safari worth it?

For most adults, yes: it is the only way to cover real distance through the winter landscape, and driving one is easier than it looks. Non-drivers can ride as passengers.

Which is the best day trip from Rovaniemi?

In winter, the frozen waterfalls of Korouoma. It is spectacular, well reviewed and costs less than most safaris. Ranua Wildlife Park is the easier choice with young children.

Are combination tours good value?

Yes if you are short of time: they bundle short versions of two or three activities with one pickup. If you have four or more days, separate, longer safaris are more satisfying.
